About the SLC

The Sídhe Literary Collective began in 2007 as a reading group in the School of English, Communications and Performance Studies, Monash University. Our members then included undergraduates, Honours students, postgraduates, postdocs and academic staff, all of whom have continued their academic careers.

With an interest in feminist inquiry and literary/pop culture matters, the group went on to run its first symposium in 2008, Vampires, Vamps and Va-Va-Voom. We enjoyed the experience so much, we returned in 2011 with Tights and Tiaras: Female Superheroes and Media Cultures. Our aim continues to be to create adventurous symposiums and conferences that are accessible not only to established academics, but also to undergraduates and postgraduates.
